Our New Textures Sculpt Silence in Stone
We believe that every space deserves to not only sound great, but to look phenomenal too. That’s why we're thrilled to introduce our latest innovations in acoustic solutions: a family of Stone Textures that power our new Barcelona and Monolith panels. These designs represent years of development, drawing on the success of our popular Wood Textures to open a new chapter in craft and design. Our journey into the realm of stone textures marries nature inspired patterns with digital technology, creating artful pieces in a range of colors that span our exclusive Hues palette.
The Art of Stone Textures
Designing our family of stone textures was almost akin to creating a painting. A canvas is readied; textures are developed; ink is applied until depth and lines emerge. Our team visited trade shows and studied architectural stonework in order to create textures that don’t just mimic nature, but evoke its essence and reinforce our connection to it. We experimented with different pattern and color variations, iterating and evaluating until we arrived at three textures that felt both authentic and versatile: Granite, Travertine, and Marble.
These procedural textures apply the technology behind our wood textures to craft organic stone patterns, layer by layer. Each panel is unique, set by specific parameters that turn away from more common printing techniques and toward materiality.
Authentic Materiality
We wanted our stone textures to be beautiful, functional, and tactile too. We care about the way the panels feel to the touch, so we wanted to steer clear of processes that alter the felt by applying too much ink, superimposing a rough, gummy texture. Instead, we chose to work with a printing process using only enough ink as is necessary for the depth and contrast of the pattern to emerge. This minimalism allows for an authentic feel that respects both the color of the felt and the patterns themselves.
Monolith and Barcelona
Our new panels, Monolith and Barcelona, were designed specifically with these new textures in mind. Monolith is a vertical, narrow panel, perfect for creating a striking visual statement; while Barcelona offers a broader, horizontal ratio that can elegantly transform spaces with an expansive scale. The patterns can continue across multiple panels, creating a highly coordinated aesthetic. Both panels support various matching techniques for a harmonized effect similar to true stone applications.
Harmonizing Color and Pattern
We were excited to develop these new textures with our Hues palette to see how they could be brought to life. Through extensive iteration, we determined which ink and substrate colors were most compatible — and which maximize the impact of each stone pattern. We wanted to understand which combinations would bring richness and which would emphasize the subtleties in the patterns most beautifully. We created a curated selection of colors and patterns in a range of styles – from the bold and color-forward, to the playful or elegant. Only the most successful were selected.Whether it’s the striking graphic presence of our Granite pattern or the subtle elegance of Marble, each design has been crafted to complement the unique characteristics of each texture.
Digitally Designed, Artisanally Crafted
By blending artistic vision with technological innovation, we offer products that are not only functional but also transformative. As we move forward, we invite you to explore these new textures and join us in this exciting new era of acoustic design.
